OUR LEATHERS
Empire of Bees’ leathers and suedes are sourced from Indonesia, one of our closest neighbours and one of the world’s biggest producers of international standard quality leathers.
Our leathers are produced in the traditional leather tanning and crafting region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia and the tanneries our suppliers purchase from are all ISO certified.
Empire of Bees accessories use full grain leathers which are hides that have not been sanded, buffed, or snuffed to remove imperfections or natural marks on the surface of the hide. This way the grain remains, ensuring a strong fibre and durability.
Our direct suppliers are small, family-owned businesses who wholesale to local tailors and artisans.
Because they are independently owned, they don’t have huge stock levels or the buying power that factories do, which means the colours and styles available are ever changing.
A word of advice: If you see an item in a colour you love, make it yours because it may not be restocked on our website or in stores in the exact same colour.
